Young Family Convention

Youngs of Scotland are in the planning stages towards a Young Family Convention in the first weekend of September in 2028 or 2029 to select a Commander. This is provisional on receiving approval from The Lord Lyon.

Dr Bruce Durie has been engaged as a consultant for the preparation and planning of the Family Convention.

Dr Bruce Durie’s conclusion on the Young of Auldbar and Young of Bailieborough research: 

“I now doubt there is a genealogical claim to Chiefship, and I believe there is insufficient evidence to determine Young of Bailieborough as a hereditary Chief line or to receive agreement from The Lord Lyon.”

A Commander Selection Committee has been formed, and terms of reference have been confirmed by Youngs of Scotland Council. The Committee will be meeting soon to determine strategies for Commander Candidate review.

We intend to petition Lord Lyon for a family convention in late 2027 or early 2028.
